Pearl Bouquet: Part Three

I mentioned earlier that I was going to do some more crafting tonight — I quickly finished twenty more coasters & moved on to my pearl bouquet project. I managed to get through an entire 24-yard roll of 24 gauge wire so yay me!

Given that at this point I’ve gone through two rolls of 24-yards & two strands of 100 ivory pearls & I’m still not quite done, I’m going to guesstimate that each bouquet is going to take three rolls of wire & three strands of pearls to be complete. Each roll of jewelry wire cost me $3 on eBay & I bought 5 strands of pearls for $19, so $3.80 per strand. That means this project should cost me $9 in wire & $11.40 in pearls… Plus the $6 I spent on two rolls of floral tape this morning, but for now we won’t include that in the cost, since I have no idea how much will be needed. The current total is $20.40 per bouquet. Significantly less than what it would cost for floral bouquets. It’s really not a particularly tough craft to do & I have 15 months until the wedding to compete bouquets for myself & my six bridesmaids… Totally do-able. Without any extras this would set me back all of $142.80 for every single bouquet. I’d do boutinneres for the guys too & there are extras like the floral tape & lace to cover the wires at the end, so I’d guess the grand total for the “floral” aspect of our wedding will come out to just under $200. That makes my budget very happy!

Here are some pictures of the current progress… Once the floral tape arrives & I start to shape the pearls it should look much more complete. So far I am really excited for how this project is working out!
